Sassaya Chavalit, Soprano

Based in Norway, Thai soprano Sassaya Chavalit has developed an international career distinguished by lyrical warmth, dramatic commitment, and stylistic versatility. Her work encompasses opera, concert repertoire, and contemporary works, with performances throughout Scandinavia, Central Europe, and Asia.'

Among her most celebrated roles is Cio-Cio-San in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, which she has performed with both Ringsakeroperaen and Opera Trøndelag in Norway. She has also appeared as Liu in Puccini's Turandot, Mimì in La Bohème, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Poppea in Monteverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Fiordiligi in Mozart's Così fan tutte, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Madame Lidoine in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites, and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte.

A strong advocate for contemporary opera, Chavalit has performed the role of Panjalajandi in Somtow Sucharitkul's Daj Jati Mahosod with Opera Siam in Thailand. Her concert appearances include performances of Dvořák's Stabat Mater, Mahler's Symphony No. 2, Mozart's Requiem, Verdi's Requiem, Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, and John Rutter's Requiem.

She has appeared with Vestfold Symfoniorkester, Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, and at festivals including the Kirsten Flagstad Festival and Arctic Opera Festival.

Chavalit holds degrees from Mahidol University in Bangkok and Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. Based in Norway, she continues to build a career that bridges European and Asian operatic traditions. Upcoming engagements include Cupido in Offenbach's Orfeus i Underverdenen.
